Recruitment for the ICT and cyber defense division is taking place today and many Haifa people are going to enlist in the division. Meet Corporal Ohad, 19 years old from Haifa, a commander in the Magen Tsofen course of the ICT and Cyber Defense Division. Ohad studied at Leo Beck High School in our city Haifa.
When Ohad Gut was asked about the city of Haifa, he replied:
I think Haifa is an amazing city. It is one of the only cities where you can see how Arabs and Jews live together in cooperation and peace, and I think that all cities involved in Israel should see Haifa as a model.
I was very stressed, I was afraid to enlist
Before the army, Ohad started a pre-military driving course to serve as a driver in the army. "I really like driving, I like being in the field and this is the military path I wanted, after I was assigned to the position, they called me and informed me that I was assigned as a fighter in the artillery corps, at first I was stressed, I was very afraid to enlist in this position and on the day of the recruitment - I told them that I was not interested in enlisting in the artillery corps.
A fan shares in the rejection process:
At the recruiting office, I was transferred to the company of the refuseniks, where they tried to convince me to repent and go to the tribe (the training base of the artillery corps), the absolute majority agreed to enlist in the artillery and even found his place in the corps, while my trial was scheduled in the evening. The judge offered me to serve as a combat supporter in the artillery corps and it was explained to me that I could serve in the brigade's ICT - which I was very curious about, because at school I studied physics and chemistry and the position suited my skills. I came directly to the base of the tribe, to go through general training, during which I encountered many difficulties.
A fan expands on how he overcame the difficulties he encountered:
The one who was there for me was my amazing commander who helped me, and today I take inspiration from her in everything I do as a commander. After the internship, I was sent to BHD 7 (the school for ICT and cyber professions) to take a "Cypher Guard" course.
During the course, the desire to become a commander burned in me
I wanted to be like my boss. During the course I was offered to go to the sorties to command myself in the course, and I passed all the committees successfully and these days I am starting my third round as a commanding officer.
The operational arena in the field of contact
The course trains the soldiers in the cipher and communication system in the IDF and is responsible for the operational arena in the field of communication. In the course you learn about the communication transfer methods in the IDF. I am very satisfied with my job, it is the most satisfying job there is. There are a lot of soldiers who have problems and I see it on them and I fight to help them. Soldiers arrive after training and still don't understand anything.
Come with an open mind
At BHD 7, this is the place to wrap them up and teach them beyond the professional fields but about life in the army, we have a "WhatsApp" group with security guards in which we answer the soldiers' questions, mainly to get them to come with an open mind.
We asked Ohad: What would you say to a child who was in the Refuse Company?
I would tell him not to go there, you have to give everything in the system a chance. You make friends everywhere and it doesn't matter where you are told to go - every role is subjective and personal and everyone perceives it differently.
Regarding the command staff Ohad adds:
The command staff is insanely cohesive - the work ethic is very, very high, it doesn't stop anyone from having fun, I met amazing people in the army and our level of connection is crazy.
They always say that in combat there are friends for life, but even in the world of fighting supporters there are friends for life!
Everyone finds their place in the end
The bottom line for me is - no matter where you start, you won't be the same when you finish. Don't let anyone break you, crush you.. in the army sometimes situations seem dramatic and you have to remember that everyone finds their place in the end, because many times, it's not the job.. nor the place.. it's the people! And every place I've been I've found good people and that makes it much more fun to serve in the IDF.
A huge multidimensional commander with his head in the clouds but his body is connected to the ground.
An amazing commander, an inspiring man!
cannon!
Fan you are inspiring, well done!
