The first event of its kind to raise awareness about the rights of people with disabilities and mental health problems in Arab society, will be held this Thursday 7/11/19 at the community center in the Halisa neighborhood in Haifa.
Abir Abdelhalim, The director of the education service is supported by the Natan company, the leader in the field of rehabilitation and community integration, told Lahi Pa about the first event of its kind and its importance:
We are talking about a first-of-its-kind event in the Halisa neighborhood that aims to raise awareness about the rights of people with disabilities in general and mental health in particular among the residents from the Arab community in Haifa and the surrounding area, especially the Halisa neighborhood. The event will take place at the Chalissa community center, which opens doors for collaborations with the aim of promoting the Arab society in the city. The rehabilitation basket in the Ministry of Health is the leader in establishing the event in partnership with companies that provide services in the various fields, such as: Natan Company, Gesher LaKhilaha, Tefaret Beit Ham. In addition to the National Insurance Institute and Joint .
Today I work for the leading Natan company in the field of rehabilitation. As the director of the education service in the Arab society, I see that there is a great need to establish seminars in order to raise awareness in the field of mental health, an area that is not given attention in the Arab society, which today suffers from violence, especially the so-called halissa.
We are talking about a population that is dealing with trauma and is not receiving a response, in addition to everything related to double morbidity - an outbreak of mental illness following drug use. The evening is just an opening for more events and seminars dealing with these topics.
It should be noted that the event is open to the public and participation is free. We appeal to all the Arab residents of Haifa and the area, and especially to the residents of the neighborhood, to come and hear about their rights. In the evening there will be representatives of associations, companies and institutions that provide adapted services to the Arab society.
