The project to reduce air pollution from vehicles in Haifa Bay continues to expand

The project to reduce air pollution from vehicles in Haifa Bay continues to expand, with the Nesher Municipality joining this week in the joint project with the local authorities, the Yaffa Nof infrastructure company and the Ministries of Transportation and Environmental Protection.

Particle filters in outdated diesel vehicles
The purpose of the project is to reduce air pollution from polluting vehicles and to encourage the installation of particulate filters in outdated diesel vehicles, especially those that do not meet air pollution prevention standards.

A call for the establishment of a public escort committee
Last Thursday, Yaffe Nof issued a call for the establishment of a public monitoring committee regarding a plan to reduce air pollution by vehicles in the Haifa Bay area promoted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation, the Haifa Bay Cities Association for Environmental Protection and the local authorities, including Nesher Municipality.

The plan will be carried out by the company 'Yepa Nof', under the supervision of the Association of Haifa Bay Cities for the Protection of the Environment, and its aim is to reduce the air pollution resulting from vehicles by creating a restricted movement area for polluting vehicles in residential areas and to encourage the installation of particulate filters in outdated diesel vehicles. Today, the program It is operated in all residential areas in the city of Haifa and its operation has led to an improvement in air quality in the city. The extension of the program to the territory of Kiryat and Nesher is now being promoted.

CEO of Yaffa Nof, Avishai Cohen:

"Public participation is an extremely important tool for promoting urban projects and driving urban renewal. This is how we enable residents to take part in decision-making, influence and be involved in what is happening in their city. This is a project that will improve the quality of life of the residents of the Haifa Bay from end to end at the same time as improving the quality of the environment, and therefore the participation of residents in the project is of great importance."

Quite a bit has been written and talked about air pollution and its causes in the Haifa metropolis and the Kiryat in general and in the city of Nesher in particular. The steering committee aims, among other things, to find solutions that will lead to a drastic reduction of air pollution so that the residents of the city of Nesher, and the region as a whole, can breathe clean and unpolluted air.
