In August, a number of demonstrations were held by residents and parents from the Hufit school, who objected to the integration of students from the bilingual track in the school. Despite the concerns, the school year started without incident and the children were warmly welcomed at school.
The school year started as a series at the Hufit school in the Shaar Aliya neighborhood. The children from the bilingual track joined the school and despite the fear created by the protests of residents in the neighborhood and parents who opposed the integration of the bilingual track, the children were received at the school in a nice and respectable way. As I recall, until this year students from the bilingual track studied at the Ahmadiyya school, but this year there was not enough space in the school and therefore, the municipality had to find another host school.
Gilad Mulian, father of the children in the bilingual route says:
The school year started in an excellent and exciting way. The bilingual parents are very optimistic about the future. A good word goes to the principal of the school, Ziva Talvi Salomon, and the director of the bilingual track, Iris Klein, and the educational teams, for putting in a lot of effort during the holidays, to enable the start of the school year in a peaceful and safe manner, with most of the logistics behind us. More than that - the ability of Ziva and Iris to bridge and compromise between the group of parents from the coast and the group of parents of the bilingual, inspires a lot of confidence and optimism for the future. They proved and are proving what educational leadership is. We also thank the parents and children at the beach for their blessing of hosting us at the school temporarily until we move on to a permanent structure and the beautiful welcome our children received at the school.
It should be noted that in August at the same time as the demonstrations, there were parents from the school who claimed that most of the parents at the Hufit school were not opposed to the integration of the bilingual track. In view of the reception the children received from the bilingual track, it seems that those parents were right.
In a special interview for the opening of the school year, Sigal Zioni talked about the bilingual school
The bilingual track is a unique track that is suitable for the city of Haifa, which is a mixed city, where there is a good and special relationship between Jews and Arabs. The track was established as a growing track at the Ahmadiyya school in the Kabvir neighborhood (a growing track - adds a class every year). The Ahmadiyya school suffered from overcrowding and the building could not accommodate the additional classrooms. As soon as we took office, within the new municipality, we received a request from representatives of parents who accepted that their children were in poor conditions and therefore we decided to embark on a joint process with the Ministry of Education and the "Yad Yad" association for a process of taking care of the needs of this unique institution. Several alternatives were examined and the most suitable, in the opinion of the professional staff, was at the "Hofit" school in Shaar Aliya, because the school's principal had integrated Arab students and teachers years before with great success at Beit Sifra.
The Beach School remains as it is, with its uniqueness and in addition, it will host the bilingual track, which is run as a separate unit, with a separate principal, a separate agenda and a separate curriculum. Hofit was chosen to provide a solution because of the location, the administration, the infrastructure, the availability and the ability to lead a temporary process at the end of which the students of the bilingual school will receive a completely separate campus of their own.
We believe and hope that a school with the "bilingual" route will be a positive example and model for the whole country.
Good morning to me and have a prosperous day with God's help
Now listen carefully, all the left-wing parents who are beautifying themselves who even dare to write a comment instead of sitting and being silent! First of all, I'm an extreme racist and I'm really not in favor of mixing Jews and Arabs in any setting, not just a school, but settings in general! I am a proud Jew who was brought up in a Jewish school and would probably like with great pleasure and great joy that my child was brought up the way I was brought up without mixing! I grew up in a neighborhood that didn't have a single Arab family. I didn't know it since I was a child and won't recognize it in the future! Yes, the nerves are rising so please get up and drink cold water and relax.. are you done? We continue.. You came too inflated and with demands: to take down the picture of the late Herzl, the map of the State of Israel, why the map because it didn't suit you because there aren't a few villages that aren't indicated, so I'm asking now who are you anyway? Who is asking you anyway? Who sees You at all? Let's not forget that, you're damn welcome guests! Guests at our school of the Jews! Hopefully in a year you'll give gas, make room and we won't see you at all, we won't remind you who you actually are! And don't get confused who welcomed you with a beautiful face is only the principal of the school because She did not leave a brazen choice for herself and what our children will go through the whole year is only because of her! May God protect our own children from the Shaar Aliya neighborhood..Amen
I ask what did we sin?? Why did we deserve it?? mercy!!!
post Scriptum. You put your child in some kind of quarantine, you will face and you will beep. Thanks
disgusting
Hello, this really has nothing to do with Arabs in bilingualism. There are also Jews. It has to do with the framework itself, which has a completely different education than ours and a different worldview. The fact is that they will touch us. They demanded that Herzl's picture be taken down because it does not reflect their reality, nor does his vision suit them. Jewish state) So before you say racists, first of all know the details because in the meantime the ones who came out as racists are them and at our school there are Arabs who study with us and we never said all of them so to all the hippies who jump up and shout racism at least know what it is about
You probably don't know what racism is, repeat what you write and maybe you will understand what racism is.
I didn't understand that my reluctance to join the bilingual track makes me a racist ????? I'm really trying to understand what's racist here, and also that we decided to take a step back in the demonstrations, the bilingual came in and proved that we may have been wrong in this decision
It's just a shame and disgrace that this is how you educate your children "mother" or "mother2", Beach School is already mixed with many colors, origins and even religions. Even if there was one Arab child in the class and this is how you teach your children to behave simply as an example, what can I say.
And a mixed Haifa will stay mixed and mix more. Amen, all kindergartens and schools will be mixed and without clear separation, and if you don't like it, go to Mea Shearim or Beit Shan, or you know what, stay in Haifa with the child at home and don't go to playgrounds, a mall, a pool or the sea because that's where we are too?
Haifa is a mixed city where people live together and those who don't like it will rebuild and leave
So come on, leave bye
It's a lie. We still oppose the process that is taking place. In the height of their insolence, the staff of the Hufit school dared to welcome the bilingual in the Jewish second grade blessing without the permission of the parents. And this time we won't be silent, we'll just continue, so start respecting our will and not theirs, because in the end we'll be at war once again
It's a shame that at the reception they gave them, they took children from a beach house to appear at their place without the permission of their parents, some of whom oppose the move. It's a shame they didn't think about how our children feel about it with all this mess and only thought how to please and paint a bilingual that everything is rosy is a complete lie and will only cause outrage
It's a shame they don't take into account the parents from a beach school who find it difficult to move and are only looking for ways to rekindle all the demonstrations and protests like taking into account only the feelings of the bilingual to try to mix the children without permission from the parents as long as there is separation and respect for each other will be calm they will continue to try to bully us to do as they wish with the children We will return and demonstrate with all our strength
No one will bother you.
As a grandmother of granddaughters in the bilingual education system, I am happy to hear this and pained by the inhuman ugliness that was exposed at the same time and exacerbated by the dark and racist forces that exist in the city and its coalition.
At the end of the day, Haifa is essentially a tolerant city and pleasant to live in. But in recent years, fanatical national religious racism has arisen in it, and this should be guarded against.
I also raise an eyebrow in front of the orderly procedure that Sigal Tzioni talks about and the ability of the city administration to take all the time in the world regarding the bilingual school when for the ultra-Orthodox they were ready to vacate active buildings from now on and steal them from the public, without an orderly process of an allocations committee and a stinking bypass through Incorrect reports to the Ministry of the Interior.
With this, the city administration proved, without question, where it is headed and we must be on guard.
Your question, he discovered, should have been addressed to the previous mayor who did not care to find a permanent structure for bilingualism.
