The largest swimming event in Israel took place last weekend (07-09/06/2019) at the Technion pool, in which hundreds of swimmers from all over the country participated. Maccabi Haifa Carmel swimmers won no less than 46 medals, of which 17 were gold. The neighboring Maccabi Kiryat Bialik also had a good representation on the podium.
At this time of the year, when there is the summer break in most sports, the swimming industry is actually starting to heat up for the World Championships that will start next month in Gwangju, South Korea. About 850 swimmers participated in the Haifa Cup held last weekend. The competition was held for the 29th year in the organization of the Maccabi Haifa Carmel Association and in cooperation with the Haifa Municipality, in memory of Moshe Hirsch and Amnon Nussbaum Zal who managed the swimming department in the association for many years.
The opening ceremony of the competition was held on Thursday with the participation of the deputy mayor Adv David Etzioni, the management of the Swimming Association, the management of Maccabi Israel, the management of the Maccabi Haifa Carmel Association and the managers of the sports authority in the municipality of Haifa. During the ceremony, scholarships were distributed to outstanding athletes.
