Spring is here and the snakes, who have spent their winter hibernation, are out in search of food throughout the city of Haifa. A live reader here, Nachum Lieberman, photographed a black-headed snake, on Rabbi Akiva Street in Haifa, in the evening hours.
A black-headed snake is a non-venomous snake. It is about 50 cm long and is common from the north of the country to Beer Sheva. It hides during the day and goes out to look for food in the evening. This is why it is rare to see it, even though it is common. The black-headed snake defends itself by quickly escaping to a hiding place and exuding a bad smell in front of its attackers.
