The Journalist of the Year award on behalf of Kinneret Academic College was awarded to journalist Eli Levy, for many years of media work, with great dedication.
Professor Hillel Nosek read the reasons of the award committee in a moving ceremony:
Eli Levy, the news reporter for Reshet, Channel 13, in the north of the country. Eli Levy is a reporter on the topic of environmental protection on the channel and a team member in the "Close to Home" project on Channel 13. Eli Levy uploads, almost every day, as well as in the channel's news magazine, on Fridays, articles and interviews, human stories and investigations, which express, with great sensitivity, humanity and empathy Exceptional for man, nature and the environment, in the northern region of the country.
The job of a field reporter is not easy. It requires dealing with dozens of events and tasks on a daily basis, starting with the selection of coverage topics, meeting the pressures, strict schedules, dealing with "fake news", while maintaining the rules of journalistic ethics, and ending with the presentation of the issues in truthful reports and from a unique point of view.
Eli Levy is gifted with a correct view of reality, with sensitivity to the smallest details, with the ability to bring peripheral issues to light and amplify them into national issues. Sensitively presenting the in-depth journalistic investigation, without harming the humanity of those being investigated, while presenting the set of reactions and the overall picture, in order to bring the viewer the truth, as much as possible.
Eli is a role model for beginning journalists. A journalist who made it all the way through the media, from a local letter, daily newspaper and regional radio to the top of the news on television. All this without severing his ties with his fellow journalists, with the local media and especially with the people on the ground.
To this day, in addition to his television work and his weekly radio program, which raises social, environmental and human issues in the north, he lectures to students, teenagers, families and the elderly, about communication and connection with the citizen who needs it.
For all these and more, we respectfully award the "2019 Kinneret Media Award" to journalist and TV personality, Eli Levy.
